Research & Development

From concept to innovation

At Van Beek, innovation begins with curiosity. Each and every day, our R&D team explores new technology, improves existing systems, and monitors future market developments. Not only because customers request this, but because we aim to continue as the leading specialist in screw conveying technology.

Innovation triggers

Our projects originate from a variety of different triggers. Sometimes an innovative idea develops from our own team’s curiosity, a technical challenge that we want to understand, or a desire to make a process smarter, safer or more sustainable. Signals from the market, changing legislation (such as ATEX requirements) and trends in energy use, materials and digitalisation also spark new development processes. Often, we work on solutions before the market explicitly demands them — enabling us to not only respond to change, but help drive it.

From concept to implementation

We conduct both practical and theoretical research, inspired by our own ideas, or by emerging technological trends. For this we use:

  • 3D printed prototypes
  • Sensor technology and data logging
  • Test setups in The Blue Zone
  • Insights from literature, seminars and trade fairs

Every innovation follows several stages of development: starting with an exploration or hypothesis, followed by small prototypes and test setups, and ultimately fully developed and thoroughly tested machines. Only when all requirements are met and the added value is proven do we bring a product into production or introduce it to the market.

R&D-Team

Behind every innovative solution from Van Beek is a committed and driven R&D team. Daan Mulder and Michiel van Mourik, both R&D and Test Engineers, form the heart of our research and development. They combine in-depth knowledge of screw conveyors with a curious, practical view of the future.

In our test centre, The Blue Zone, and at customer sites, they carefully prepare, supervise and analyse tests and translate the results into concrete recommendations and improvements. In addition, the team actively follows market developments and works on new applications, product optimisations and innovative concepts such as the Celsius Volta line.

In addition to technology, there is also room for knowledge sharing. Our R&D team is visible during open days and trade fairs and mentors students and young engineers. Because innovation starts with people and with sharing knowledge!
